Floyd Lee Corkins II is an American domestic terrorist.
On August 15th, 2012, Corkins entered the Washington DC headquarters of the Family Research Council, an Anti-Gay organization, with a 9mm pistol and 50 rounds of ammunition. He approached Leonardo Johnson, a security guard at the building, and told him he didn't like his politics before shooting him in the shoulder. However, Johnson managed to overcome his injury and tackled Corkins, who was then held down by Johnson and several bystanders until the police showed up to arrest him.
While in police custody, Corkins, a volunteer worker at an LGBT community centre, stated that he had attacked the FRC because he found them on a list of Anti-Gay groups, which he had looked up in order to decide where to commit a shooting for his cause. Corkins pleaded guilty to charges of assault with a deadly weapon, interstate transport of a firearm and ammunition and possession of a handgun during a violent crime and was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment.
