Mohammad Afzal Guru (Baramulla, 1969 - New Delhi, February 9, 2013) was a terrorist who participated in the December 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament, 1 who was sentenced to death by the POTA Special Court in 2002. The Delhi High Court confirmed the sentence handed down in 2003 and its appeal to it was rejected by the Supreme Court of India in 2005.2 The sentence was scheduled to take place on October 20, 2006, but was given a suspension of the execution and Afzal remained in death row. On February 3, 2013, his petition for pardon was rejected by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee. On 9th February he was executed.
