- January 1 - Augustus Sol Invictus is arrested on charges of kidnapping, domestic violence, and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.
- January 10 - A shooting happens at a private school in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico.
- January 10 - An Islamic State member commits a suicide bombing at a mosque in Quetta, Balochistan, killing 15 and inuring 19.
- January 23 - Christopher Cantwell is indicted by the FBI on charges of extortion and cyberstalking.
- February 3 - Four gunmen kill eight people, including four minors, in a shooting at a video arcade in Uruapan, Michoacan. The Jalisco New Generation Cartel is suspected in the massacre.
- February 8 to 9 - Jakrapanth Thomma kills three at an army base, nine at a Buddhist temple, then 17 at a mall in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, before being shot by police.
- February 11 - The Sudanese government agree to hand over Omar al-Bashir to the International Criminal Court in The Hague to face charges of crimes against humanity in regards to the crisis in Darfur.
- February 18 - Rod Blagojevich is released from prison after serving six years.

- August 21 - Joseph James DeAngelo, the Golden State Killer, is sentenced to life in prison without parole.
- August 25 - Kyle Rittenhouse kills two protesters, Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and injures a third during an Antifa protest in Kenosha, Illinois.

- December 11 - Boko Haram kidnaps 520 students from Kankara, in northern Nigeria.
- December 14 - Nathan Larson is arrested in Denver, Colorado, on felony charges of kidnapping, child abduction, soliciting child pornography from a minor, and meeting a child for the intention of sex, along with a misdemeanor charge of harboring a minor.
- December 25 - An RV bomb detonates outside an AT&T exchange in Nashville, Tennessee, damaging the telephone systems and surrounding buildings and injuring 3. The bomber, Anthony Warner, is killed in the explosion.
